Lionel joined GB in 2022 as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Australian Operation, and has since also been appointed as Deputy CEO — Personal Injury.

He previously held a similar role for 6 years at Allianz Partners as Regional COO for Australia and New Zealand. A French and Australian citizen, Lionel has worked and lived in France, Australia, the UK and the US. His career spans 20 years, with over half that time in the insurance industry. He is passionate about GB's employee development, data and technology.

From 2015 to 2022, as COO and Responsible Manager for Allianz Partners Australia, Lionel was managing large Operations teams spanning multiple areas of expertise, such as claims and case management, contact centre, project management, procurement, quality and training, workforce management and digital product ownership.

In this role he spearheaded key initiatives to radically improve the customer experience, drive the automation of a significant portion of the travel claim portfolio, enhance the governance and risk management capabilities in a highly demanding regulatory environment, and implement agile work practices.

From the global headquarters of Allianz Partners in Paris, Lionel also led two global initiatives across 30+ countries, launching a network of four offshore centres and streamlining the company's assistance and insurance products to drive synergy and efficiency.

Prior to joining Allianz, Lionel held roles such as Equity Research Analyst and Investment Banking Associate with Morgan Stanley and Barclays Capital, and Project Leader with the Boston Consulting Group.

In his role as COO, Lionel is responsible for nurturing and enhancing GB's unique culture across 1,000 Operations colleagues, supporting the continued delivery of a superior customer experience and developing new solutions and capabilities to cement GB's market leadership.
